I turn down roughly 1000 musicians a year for representation, but could not pass up this newest addition to the MarsJazz roster, who is a very special young singer-songwriter. I think Joanna's going to be big.

Joanna's got it all: a gorgeous, evocative voice, poetic lyrics that tell a story, great beauty and stage presence, and an overall musicality that comes from being the daughter and younger sister of renowned classical musicians.

Recently I heard her play a house concert in NYC solo with just her looping effects and ukelele and the audience was spellbound. Joanna also has a stellar trio in pianist Jesse Elder, bassist Pablo Menares, and drummer Kenneth Salters, with whom she recently recorded her fourth (release tbc) album Blood and Bone. Her 2016 Sunnyside CD Gardens in My Mind (which received a 4-star review in Downbeat) features Jo's original string arrangements for the acclaimed Sacconi Quartet, and pianist Dan Tepfer. This was a follow-up to her beautiful duo record with Tepfer, The Origin of Adjustable Things (2015, Sunnyside).

Joanna also has multiple projects to present, including Beyond Joni, her tribute to Joni Mitchell and other great singer-songwriters of the last half-century. For more info on this rising star, please visit and contact me.
