AIRTO MOREIRA has dominated the Downbeat poll for best Jazz Percussionist for decades, and Airto’s rhythmic genius on his vast array of percussion instruments from his native Brazil and around the world has made him the first choice of bandleaders and producers in all genres of music. After appearing on Miles Davis’s landmark album, Bitches Brew, and touring with Miles for two years, Airto went on to become a founding member of Weather Report, and since then has contributed to the music of everyone from Carlos Santana to Smashing Pumpkins, including Grammy-winning CDs with Planet Drum and Dizzy Gillespie’s United Nations Orchestra.

Airto is currently touring with the sextet Eyedentity, a band co-led by his daughter, vocalist Diana Purim, and her husband, vocalist/percussionist Krishna Booker that combines Jazz, Brazilian, World Music, Funk, and Hip-Hop into one exciting and uplifting show. This is a party band for intelligent people and a great band for festivals, indoor and out.
