One of the hottest new bands on the scene, East Axis finished 2nd in the JazzTimes Critics Poll for New Artist in 2021, after their debut release Cool with That.  Their followup release No Subject, on the Mack Avenue label, introduced multi-instrumentalist Scott Robinson and his diverse history and array of sounds to the quartet, which also includes Matthew Shipp on piano, Kevin Ray on bass, and Eric McPherson on drums.

Called an “avant-garde band for those who are afraid of the avant-garde,” East Axis tells short stories with strange twists and turns and invites the audience along for the ride.  Featuring four of the most unique and creative musicians on the planet, the whole is truly greater than the sum of their considerable parts.  Give me a shout if you want to know (or hear) more.
