EAST AXIS – The most recent addition to the MarsJazz roster, and one of the hottest new bands on the scene, East Axis finished 2nd in the JazzTimes Critics Poll for New Artist in 2021, after their debut release Cool with That. Now, with multi-instrumentalist Scott Robinson bringing his diverse history and array of sounds to the formidable rhythm section of Matthew Shipp on piano, Kevin Ray on bass, and Gerald Cleaver on drums for their followup recording No Subject, on the Mack Avenue label, East Axis takes the next step in their adventurous collective journey.
Called an “avant-garde band for those who are afraid of the avant-garde,” East Axis tells short stories with strange twists and turns and invites the audience along for the ride.
